Springfield Model 187R 22 Caliber Rifle

A Springfield Model 187R came across my work bench. For those who like to detail clean and/or repair, I think it is good to have some pictures of the action on hand before disassembly commences.

Left side of receiver towards muzzle.

Forward end of receiver, aft end of barrel.

Bottom of trigger group.

Right side of receiver, open bolt.

This is a schematic of a Model 187N rifle from http://www.gunpartscorp.com/SchematicDisplay.aspx?schem=/images/schematics/Savage_6Jand187JSeries_schem.jpg&name=187N+(*)which seems to be similiar to the Model 187R.

Your photos are a lifesaver. Thanks for posting. Trying to fix my 187R. Jams or misfeeds with every ammo brand I have tried. Also rounds get stuck in the magazine when they reach the rocker.

Very accurate little 22.

For its age, the bore is spotless. Now I know why ... previous owner (my grandfather) got tired of shooting it. :--)) I would like to put 1000 rounds through it in a day without a malfunction. It is so accurate and precise. Accuracy is how well it hits what you are aiming at. Precision is how tight are the groupings. This thing is a joy on both counts, using its stock sights.
