My Cat, Crash

Here are three pictures of my cat, Crash. He is a fair sized black cat found adrift in Gainesville, FL by my daughter a few years ago when she was a student.

When found, he was quite young and also very hungry. His first meal consisted of two hot dogs consumed in record time. It was also noted when found that he had a neurological problem with his rear. If someone steps on his tail, he does not react properly. With his problem, he is somewhat unaware of his hindquarters. He will use a cat box, but his butt may be hanging outside when he does.

His major problem is taking care of his fur. His front half is scrupiously groomed. However, he does little to the back half. He has major under fur of fine hair which most cats would remove by grooming. Since he does not, the underhair is not removed and builds up as a very thick pelt. His pelt can be removed by pulling it out, but if you upset his good nature, bear in mind his front half is a formidable full grown tomcat.

So last week while we were out of town, Crash got a haircut. Here are some pictures taken of him right after we turned him loose in the backyard.

He was a bit shy. In fact, I had to wait for him to out from behind the Bouginvillia bush he likes to reside in when he is outside.

This is a good shot of his new lion tail. He also looks like he is wearing boots.

Check out the boots, he looks like a fisherman in waders.

Safety Alert with photo of driver

This safety alert is repeated here from the blog of Princess Toadstool:

"Fellow drivers, pedestrians, dog walkers, joggers, gardeners and anyone that values life here on planet Earth, please be on the look-out for a 900 series, gray 1991 Volvo Deluxe Station Wagon. It can usually be seen taking out hedges, jumping cement parking blocks and creating orphan Garden Gnomes. There has been no description released of the driver as of late since all you can see of the individual before she plows through your shrubbery is the profile of a mushroom and a rather pronounced schnoz. There is no point in honking or waving a specific finger at this individual, as she can not hear you... as she is thoroughly engrossed in conversation on her cell."

Over the weekend, I was able to get a snapshot of the elusive Volvo pilot mentioned above while she was in her native habitat. Whether her driving habits will be improved due to the increased visibility caused by her new hairdo is unknown at this time.

US Postal Service Proof

Here, from the US Postal Service is indisputable proof that the crafty, wily and elusive "Nana McGeezle" does in fact exist. The evidence leaves no room for doubt as the US Postal Service tracked her down and delivered her mail. As a government agency, they take there job very seriously. For the federal government, getting McGeezle her mail is every bit as serious as making sure Mr. Claus gets his mail.

Nana's Ginger Bread Houses for Kids

Nana has the porch table all set up to make ginger bread houses. However, since our main particpants are three years of age or less we will be using graham crackers instead of ginger bread.

Here is the youngest participant in Nanas little project. Here he is with his Mom, they are getting ready to start building.

Here is Jack with his Mom and Dad. He is the older participant in the group. He is a real busy body and very intelligent. He caught onto the project really quick, those kndergartner teachers better get ready for this fellow.

Everything he is using is tasty to both adults and children. Much of the time, one hand was decorating and the other hand was filling someone's mouth.

Isaac really liked his sprinkles, chocolate chips and generally everything else used to put these things together.

This ginger bread house looks like the real thing to me. Plus everything was fresh and edible. Another successful projest from the fantastic Nana and a great time was had by all.

Isaac in the middle of building a ginger bread house. You can see that he is very intent on the task at hand.

Here is Nana with Mom and son, everyone had a great time.

This is the Nana with her grandson Jack and his Mom. It appears that they had a great time. I don't think it was just eating the candy, I think they enjoyed actually putting the things together.

Here is one of the finished results. I don't know who made it. As I write this, evryone has gone home and we have four of them on the dining room table. But everyone including that fantastic Nana had a great time.

Isaac's First Hayride

A kiss from the boy to his Mom, just to show that he is having a really fun time.

Here is Isaac with his "Nana". They are looking for any adventures that may be heading their way while touring the farm.

A kiss for the "Nana" from Isaac

One of the handsome men from this family. He comes from a long long line of very handsome men, but I digress and must move on.

Here he is checking out the straw in the hay wagon. he has yet to learn the difference between hay and straw.

Cows seen during the ride around the farm.

The beautiful "Nana" and her grandson Isaac enjoying the hayride

There they are again, I love this woman. She makes one of the best Nanas I have ever known.

Every farm has fall decorations visible for you to take pictures of. Here is Isaac satisfying the wishes of his elders to let them get a picture or two.

OK, so he didn't really pose. I shot about 25 pictures and these two were the only good ones. That, however, is the beauty of the digital camera. If you shoot as fast as possible while you have the kid on the background the law of averages will sometimes give you a decent picture after judicious cropping. Maybe.

Great People in My Life

This is the one who started it all. She brought most of the "GOOD" things into my life. Everone shown below are her "people". She is the McGee, the pack leader, lover of all, and everyone's consoler regardless of their problems.

This is the Magical Nana at work. Here she is acting the part with one of her "people" at the Pima Air & Space Museum outside Tuscon, AZ.

Here is one of those "GOOD" things. The families' longest lasting college student who finally graduated after numerous Army Reserve deployments, a marriage and her son. She is the mother of two of the greatest grandchildren ever.

This is our oldest grandson (Numero Uno), he helped his mother work her way through college. Without him, it would have been a lot less work. He is a lot like his mother was when she was little, very liberal in the outfits he chooses to wear. Mom thought this was a Halloween outfit but from what I understand he thinks its for playing in now and he wants Mom to make him a Halloween outfit.

This was the family before the addition of the latest little fellow.

This is our third grandson but he is grandchild number four. He came along to make sure mom had something to do in case she ever thought of getting a master's degree. He is there to help his big brother and dad help mom.

This is the most recent picture of the new fellow. As you can see he is now getting into the smiling stage.

These are the two that helped get the mom through college. You can just see "help" emanating from the both of them, it just kinda pours out all over.

And here we have another "GOOD" thing in my life. She is in a difficult field, Army Intelligence......as a retired Navy E-9 I will just let that one lay right there. She ia also the full-time mom of another fantastic grandchild (number 3). This picture was taken upon graduation from MI school before she qualified "AIRBORNE".

This is her son "Dogbowl", he is a thirsty sort of lad that never misses an opportunity to quench his thirst.

This is Dogbowl with his Dad. They have a lot of fun with each other.

This is the "bus" that Dogbowl's dad drives for the US Army when he is at work. When you drive one of these, people get out of your way with little arguement.

Another "GOOD" thing is my wife's oldest daughter shown here with her husband and daughter who are shown together down below. Mom and dad both work in the news media and seem to be having a great time with their daughter who happens to be at this time our only granddaughter and also grandchild number two..

Mom and daughter having a good time in Jacksonville, FL.

Dad and daughter on a field trip to old St Augustine, FL.

This is my oldest son. He joined me in another life many eons ago. This kid should have been a veterinarian the way he takes care of animals. He raises Lhasa Ahpsos andhas adopted almost every stray or injured animal he comes across. If you don't meet his criteria, he will not even sell you a "for sale" dog. He is a really "Good" kid.

I also have another daughter, but I am having a hard time finding any recent pictures of her. More on this later.

THERE THEY ARE !!!!!!!!

This picture was taken of my 1stLT daughter as her "chalk" made their graduation jump at the US Army Airborne School, FT Benning, Ga. She was number 13 in her chalk. I can not identify her exactly but I counted back from the picture of the Jumpmaster checking his aircraft and I believe she is in this picture. The body english of the jumper just out the door is the one I believe is her. If not, she could be the one tumbling below the aircraft. As the Dad, I pick the one just out the door.

The LT landed safely where her Dad, Master Chief, USN, Submarine Service, retired, pinned on her wings. She then proceeded to pin three of her fellow AIRBORNE mates who had no family members present at the graduation.

The camera was a Canon Digital Rebel with a 75-300mm Canon Image Stabilized lens. The aircraft was above 2000 feet and at least 1500 feet in front of me. Love those digital cameras.

The Old Salt with his grandson in southern Arizona

Two adventurers in a foriegn land where you can't even lean on a tree. The blades of grass are at least a mile apart. It's warm here but you really don't sweat a lot except maybe the part my grandson is using for a saddle. At least I hope that was sweat.
